Hi all, I've named myself "DuploMom" because, even though we have LEGOs and love LEGOs and our interest in the LEGO company was started by LEGOs, our family is currently "discovering" Duplos. We have a 19-month-old who loves to stack and unstack them, of course. But our older two (going on 5 and 7) love the Duplo themes and build and re-build their Dino world, police station, post office, farm, etc. using basic and specialty Duplo bricks. I highly recommend them, even if you're in love with LEGOs.
Is there anybody on this Forum with the same experience?

Well, I sometimes use both Lego and Duplo in the same sets I make. (because Duplo makes bigger walls out of fewer bricks.) But I'm 14 so I think I have mostly grown out of Duplo.

Here's a LEGO/Duplo combo we made this Spring (using the small castle LEGO set).

Thanks for the photo. That's a great castle you made using both LEGO/DUPLO pieces. It's good that both types of bricks are compatible with each other. That way you don't have to get rid of your collection of DUPLO blocks when you move up to the smaller LEGO bricks. I know when you're building something big, the DUPLO blocks come in handy for filling in the extra space. It looks like they now have a lot more themed DUPLO sets than they used to, too, which is nice.

Heh, I think LEGO planned it that way. And that is a really cool castle.

I have worse... they were made by Hasbro... "BTR" was their name...
I got a baby barf just thinking about it. Basically, they were lego knockoffs based on the G. I. Joe and Transformers line. They have super-specialized pieces. Basically, take the head of the Power Miners Crystal King, add a Bionicle Piraka Body, a few Duplo bricks, one lego wing, and a G. I. Joe figure with little lego studs attached at the arms and legs.
Take that, and sell it for $25
